Live Laugh and Love to Run

1 note

The UU is one of my favorite places to people watch on campus because you experience all the different people on campus.  You see freshmen coming down from the dorms, mostly reluctant, trying to decide which dining place they will choose today.  You see a steady stream of gym goers.  You see people with towels draped around their necks, swim trunks instead of shorts, and bikini straps peaking out of shirts.  You see people with sweatshirts and sweats, indicating they had a morning class and haven’t been home to change.  You see shorts and tanks (both bro and non) start to show up around lunchtime.  You see sorority and fraternity letters on jackets.  You see people supporting their clubs and sports teams.  You see people on a mission, giving only head nods or high fives to those they know as they hustle off to their next class.  You see ‘lollygaggers’, stopping and talking to everyone they know.  You see skateboarders, scooters, and bikers, even roller skaters.  You see people who actually got dressed for class and you see people who looked like they just rolled out of bed (that’s me most of the time).  You see people walking alone, walking in pairs, and walking in groups.  You see potential students on tours about to start their college careers walking next to fifth year seniors about to end this chapter of their lives.  You see people lounging on the grass and taking naps.  You hear a mixture of laughter, conversations, and soft ‘hit’ music playing from loudspeakers in the background.  Coffee smells from Starbucks, whiffs of tomato sauce and pizza dough from Ciao, and hints of Chick-fil-a all meld together.  The sights, smells and sounds all come together making the UU the UU.

It amazes me as I’m sitting here with homework to worry about and my living my life, that each person that passes me is leading their own lives and worrying about their own problems.  Just thinking about how each person that passes through the UU is here at Cal Poly for different reasons makes my head spin.  It makes me realize that I am just one part to a whole.  A part of the UU this afternoon, a part of the lacrosse team, a part of the ME department, a part of Cal Poly.  And every person that passes me, each individual enjoying the sun in the UU, the student body as a whole, helps make up all the parts to this wonderful place we all call home; Cal Poly.

I wanna be EVERYTHING. I wanna be a runner, a CrossFitter, a weightlifter, I wanna do yoga and pilates like it’s no one’s fucking business, I wanna box, and surf, play soccer, and volleyball, and basketball, hockey, lacrosse, track, water polo, swimming, rugby, mother fucking tackle-you-to-the-ground football, tennis, baseball and softball, pitch 100 mph, I wanna rock climb real fucking rocks, and swim across the whole Pacific Ocean, I wanna train like nothing in the world has ever mattered so much, I want sweat to pour down my face, down my whole entire body, I wanna kick you in the ass, kick everyone in the ass, kick myself in the ass and push as hard as I can and never ever fucking stop until I get to the one place that I crave so badly it hurts and FINALLY UNLEASH MY INNER BEAST.

I have reblogged this an innumerable amount of times and I won’t stop. The media spreads this false image to its viewers and we wonder why our self esteem as a whole is so distorted. It’s because the images so constantly shoved down our throats is.

the jennifer lawrence one is crazy omg

I know this is colour and I’ll delete it soon but this goes out to every girl who wishes they could be like the actresses and models they see in magazines. The media is deceiving you and distorting your view on what ‘beautiful’ is. Fuck the media, you’re all gorgeous exactly the way you are and any magazine would be lucky to have you on their cover

fuck
